Welcome to Mexico City.

Made with care, this program-in-progress will be the go-to guide for our trip to Mexico City. Tune in here and on the WhatsApp channel to help us move with ease on the fly.

REMINDERS

- Wear comfortable shoes, keep it casual and cute.
- Transport will take place by group transport, metro, and by foot when appropriate.
- Evenings can run cool so dress in layers.
- Time slots marked with an asterisk* are scheduled pauses and self-guided.
- Hop on or off at your leisure, with the exception of activities that require a reservation ;-)

Finally, our group will, at some points, expand with a mix of locals and travelers from Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. We’re all visitors in this space and on this trip.

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 7 | ARRIVALS DAY

5 PM
Kick Off Cocktail | Meet up for libations at host Hotel San Fernando in La Condesa. The first cocktail is on us. (Iztaccihuatl 54, Col. Hipodromo Condesa)

8 PM
Fragmented States by Carlos Amorales | 20 singers, 20 percussionists and 20 dancers, come together to embody Naga, the great serpent deity, creator of the universe and central figure of this performance piece. (Polyforum Cultural Siqueiros, Av. Insurgentes Sur 701, Nápoles)

Terremotto magazine presents “Friends and Rivals” | If you’re looking for a party, check out Terremotto’s annual art week affair. You can purchase your tickets in advance for MXN $200 here. This event is entirely self-guided, unofficial, and runs till 4 AM—fun! (Supremo, Col Doctores)

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 8 | DAY ONE

Meet on the rooftop of the Hotel San Fernando for breakfast. Here’s the menu—arrive early to give yourself the time you need to start the day bright.

9:30 AM
Welcome Breakfast | Introductions and welcome with local partner, friend, and conspirator Dr. Angela Mictlanxochitl. (Hotel San Fernando, Iztaccihuatl 54, Col. Hipodromo Condesa)

10 AM
Home of artist Pedro Reyes and fashion designer Carla Fernández | Depart Hotel San Fernando for a visit with Pedro and Carla’s in-home pop-up shop. Pictured above, ”The cross-disciplinary creative couple foster a focus on different practices, expressing similar themes and concerns across their work, and often tackling topics such as social values in communities, Mexican indigenous cultures, and human interaction in the digital age.” (Private home, Coyoacán)

1—4 PM
Zona Maco Art Fair | Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Latin America’s largest art fair. Once arrived and checked in, enjoy lunch at several of the options onsite or dive right into the exhibitor program. Curated 40-minute tours of the fair are available for members interested in a more focused perspective and introduction to emerging galleries. (Centro Citibanamex, Av. del Conscripto 311, Lomas de Sotelo, Miguel Hidalgo) Look out for your Zona Maco VIP Pass in your inbox. You’ll need it to check-in and access their satellite programming.

Take a moment to rest and recharge. Plan to meet at Hotel San Fernando at 6:30 PM, transport leaves at 7 PM. You don’t want to miss our curated soirée.

7 PM
Meet at Hotel San Fernando for group transport to our evening engagement, this year presented in collaboration with Commissioner. Since 2017, Dr. Angela Mictlanxochitl has opened her home for a potluck dinner to invitees local and abroad. This special edition will be held in Coyoacán at a repurposed hacienda with a deep Mexican creative history: The actual center of CDMX and known by many for Frida Kahlo, over the decades the neighborhood has served as a home and refuge to artists and agitators of all kinds. At 7:30 PM, our soirée will begin with an opening sound ceremony, then fall into the vibe of convivial food, tunes by Mexico City's musical anthropologist and legend, Tropicaza, mingling, multilingual conversation, and so much more.

If you are traveling with a friend or would like to invite one guest, we welcome them to join in at 8:30 PM with RSVP. This is a private home so advance reservations are essential. Return group transport for members to Hotel San Fernando will be arranged for 10 PM, though guests are encouraged to stay well into the night. Rideshares are easily accessible.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 9 | DAY TWO

10:30 AM
Meet at Hotel San Fernando by 10:30 AM for group transport to a day of cutting-edge, experimental, and avant-garde art fairs. Arrive earlier for breakfast

11 AM
Salón Acme Art Fair | While Zona Maco and Material’s exhibitors to tend bring out their established and mid-career artists, Salón Acme showcases emerging art from Mexico and around the world. Join us and artists/guides Enrique Arriaga Celis and José Luis “Pepe” Arroyo-Robles for an exploration of this year’s offerings. (Calle Gral. Prim 30, Juárez) Salón Acme day-passes have been pre-purchased and will be distributed upon arrival at the fair. You’ll need it to check-in and re-enter for their Friday party.

*1—3 PM
Break for lunch | Enjoy a bite at Salón Acme and/or explore nearby gems, including
Bibliothèqua de Mexico, Centro de la Imagen photography space, and La Ciudela Artisan Market. Mostly self-guided, we’ll point you in the right direction and provide plenty of recs. Meet back at Salón Acme at 3 PM for group transport to Material Art Fair

3:30—5 PM
Material Art Fair | Two floors of astonishing galleries presenting exceptional artists from Mexico and all over the world including commissioned artist Isabella Mellado and Miami-based artist Gonzalo Fernandez. Optional 45-minute tours of Material Art Fair are available. (Expo Reforma, Morelos 67, Col. Juárez) Look out for your Material Art Fair VIP Pass in your inbox. You’ll need it to check-in.

*5—7:30 PM
Group transport will depart from Material Art Fair at 5 PM and return to Hotel San Fernando for guests who want to rest up—though, please free to stay and explore (the show closes at 8 PM). Transport from the hotel to dinner leaves at 7:30 PM.


8—10 PM
Masala y Maiz | Chefs Norma & Saqib explore the migration of people, culinary techniques, ingredients, cultural food ways and political movements between South Asia, East Africa & Mexico. Dinner and a complimentary glass of wine selected by the chef are included in your contribution; additional drinks can be ordered à la carte and charged directly to your party. SATURDAY FEBRUARY 10 | DAY THREE

9:30 AM
Walking Tour & Watercolors | Explore La Condesa’s Parque Mexico and neighborhood charm with artist Diana Barquero Pérez. Walk, pause, observe, and paint—the perfect way to set our intentions for the day. Art supplies will be provided. (Meet at Hotel San Fernando)

11 AM—1 PM
La Laguna | Meet at Hotel San Fernando for group transport to an old textile factory in Mexico City that’s been transformed by Productora architects into a hub for creative industries. (Calle Dr Erazo 172, Doctores)

From there, group transport brings us to Lago Algo for our 1 PM lunch reservations.

1—3 PM
Lunch at Lago Algo | LagoAlgo is a cultural center and meeting point where art, gastronomy, and ideas converge. Known for their high-end Mexican food, the experience comes with a striking view of the lake. Lunch reservations are required and limited, so please make sure you’ve confirmed your attendance or shared your regrets with us. Service is family style and not included in your contribution. (Bosque de Chapultepec, Pista El Sope S/N)

3 PM
Exhibitions Tour at Lago Algo | Following lunch, join us for a curated tour of the center’s incredible shows and spaces, including the new exhibit Chapter V: Heat by Julian Charrière, Ebecho Muslimova, Ana Montiel, Artists Against the Bomb.

*Approx. 4 PM—Onward (Free Night)
Group transport will leave from Lago Algo at approximately 4 PM and return to Hotel San Fernando.

It’s your last night in Mexico City and the options are endless. Dive back into the fair circuit—your Zona Maco and Material VIP passes offer incredible offsite programming—or visit to some of the local gallery spaces. Make your own reservations, buy tickets to parties, and enjoy your last night exploring and connecting with new and old friends at your own pace.

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 11 | COOL DOWN

For travelers staying through the entire weekend, we’ve organized a post-event program in the historic Zócalo neighborhood. Late checkout is flexible at Hotel San Fernando. Store your bags and cool down with these Sunday vibes.

11 AM
Templo Mayor & Sites | Meet us at Templo Mayor for a guided walking tour of CDMX’s Zócalo with Maestro Wash Chimalli, a Mexican knowledge-keeper and certified anthropological guide. Together we’ll walk back in time, touch on stories of the sacred sites hidden in plain sight, and soak up the energies of Tenochtitlan, ancestral name of Mexico City's historic center.

1 PM
Taqueria Lunch | Following our walking tour, enjoy tacos and local fare in the Zócalo. Authentic, casual, and the perfect way to punctuate a long weekend of cultural exploration. Lunch is not included in the contribution. (República de Guatemala 20, Centro Histórico)
