Your membership helps us commission some of the most gifted local contemporary artists of our time.
Each quarter we announce the artist commissioned to create original or limited-edition artwork exclusively for Commissioner members. Artists are independent or represented, exhibit in museums, galleries and nontraditional spaces around the world, show major public works and create in a range of visual mediums. The works remain a mystery until reveal night.
The artist selection process is curated, with an emphasis on creative rigor, community engagement, long-term objectives and timing in the artist’s career. We often ask ourselves: How may this commission at this moment positively impact the artist, and how are we challenging our members with fresh conversations, materials or experiences that relate to our time and place?
While every season engages artists from diverse backgrounds who create across a range of mediums, our hope is that members will bring their own meaning and stories to each commission.
