Bridge Initiative and Commissioner invite you to Movie Night on the Bay with Michele Oka Doner.
In celebration of Earth Day, join us at The Standard for a private poolside screening of Hello Whale, a thought-provoking short documentary that follows renowned artist Michele Oka Doner during her time at the Alaska Whale Foundation.
Through the artist’s lens, this ecopoetic film explores the relationships between vulnerable wildlife and the conservation researchers fighting to protect them. Using creative, science-driven storytelling to inspire safeguarding of this vital waterscape, we are invited to reflect: how can art and information motivate us to act?
Meet us at The Standard by the water for sunset and libations, and consider bringing your bathing suit! Hello Whale will begin at approximately 7:45 PM or at sundown, and guests are invited to watch from chairs alongside—or inside—the pool.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with the artist; producer and co-director Katherine Fleming of Bridge Initiative; and co-director and editor Darian Woehr, National Geographic Explorer and award-winning documentary filmmaker. Dejha Carrington, co-founder of Commissioner—Miami’s longest-running crowdfunded art project, which commissioned Michele Oka Doner in 2023 to create a series of new works for its 40 emerging collector members—will offer an introduction.
See you at the movies!
Immense gratitude to LoHi Magazine for all the support and love. This event is open to members of Commissioner and The Standard, and our extended community. See you at the movies.
