All Members | Season Seven Finale Edouard Duval Carrié

  • Haitian Cultural Arts Alliance 225 Northeast 59th Street Miami, FL, 33137 United States (map)

In a season defined by challenging and reimagining systems, we’re excited to announce that Edouard Duval-Carrié is our fourth and final commissioned artist of Season Seven.

Born and raised in Haiti and now based in Miami, Edouard’s mixed media work and installations delve into themes of history, identity, migration, and spirituality. His practice serves as a portal, inviting viewers to reconsider the Western Canon and explore how Africa has shaped the Americas and how the Caribbean has influenced the modern world. This conceptual layering is further emphasized by Edouard’s choice of materials, consistently utilizing translucent and reflective mediums such as glitter, glass, and resin.

Our collaboration with Edouard feels like a voyage across time and geographies, filled with rich conversations about Haiti, iconography, and the narratives that shape us. Much like previous commissioned artists—Antonia Wright, whose work Something More Beautiful emerged from a response to social injustice; Cornelius Tulloch, who guided us to the site of the Saltwater Underground Railroad; and Luna Palazzolo-Daboul, whose DIY social practice nurtures creative freedom and peer support—Edouard’s path defies convention. Self-taught, self-represented, and self-determined, his remarkable decades-long career as an internationally lauded contemporary artist inspires us to imagine anew.

Join us for our season finale. We can’t wait to celebrate you, artists, and all that becomes possible when we dream together.

This special event is for Season Seven members.
