"Being an artist wasn't really a decision as much as it was something I kept pursuing over time," said Beverly Acha, who was commissioned in May to create a new series of limited edition screenprinted works on paper. After an introduction to dark room photography at an early age, she explained, "that was really the first time I did something that was called art—that was creative—and it changed my understanding of the way I saw the world."
As collectors, our role is not only to care for the work, but to support the artist's ongoing practice. When asked what it takes to cultivate a healthy creative community, Beverly said "Getting together, inviting artists to talk, to lead a workshop—creating connections between people is what is important." We couldn't agree more.
