Field trip with New World School of the Arts

On October 27, we welcomed 70 New World School of the Arts high school students to Chire Regans’s A Reflection of the Times at Bakehouse Art Complex. A memorial exhibition honoring victims of gun violence, Chire’s work offers an opportunity to reflect, to heal, and to take action.

On the critical role of social practice in teaching and education : “A love ethic emphasizes the importance of service to others. ... Service strengthens our capacity to know compassion and deepens our insight. To serve another I cannot see them as an object, I must see their subjecthood.” — bell hooks

A Reflection of the Times is curated by Anita Sharma of Women Artists Archive Miami. The exhibit is on view at Bakehouse through December 31, 2021.

We’re thankful to Mitchell Wolfson Sr. Foundation and New World School of the Arts for making this event possible. We gratefully acknowledge Chris Adamo and Randi Wolfson; Cathy Leff and Laura Novoa; NWSA Dean of Visual Arts O. Gustavo Plascencia, and educators Jenny Gifford, Nabila Santa Cristo and Loni Johnson; parent volunteers; and the Commissioner team and member community for our continued partnership.
