Antonia Wright

Antonia Wright (b. Miami) is a Cuban-American artist who explores systems of power through a multimedia practice of video, coding, performance, photography, sound, light and sculpture. In 2004, she received a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from The New School in New York City. She went on to earn a postgraduate degree in photography from the International Center of Photography (ICP) in 2008 and a second MFA in Art Practice from the School of Visual Arts in 2024. The body is a principal element in her work.

Wright has exhibited at Pérez Art Museum Miami, Lowe Art Museum, Locust Projects and the Margulies Collection (Miami); the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington, D.C.); the Frist Art Museum (Nashville, Tenn.); Contemporary Arts Center (New Orleans); and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (Arizona). Her work has also been included in the 13th Havana Biennial, The Construction of the Possible (2019), Getty’s 2017 exhibition Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA (California) and the 2015 exhibition Florida Prize in Contemporary Art at the Orlando Museum of Art. She has participated in artist residencies at Pioneer Works (New York) and the Leipzig International Art Program (Germany).

She is the recipient of the 2025 Knight Arts + Tech Fellowship, the 2020 South Florida Cultural Consortium Award, the 2024 Miami Individual Artists (MIA) Award from the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the 2023 Corral & Cathers Artist Award, the 2020 and 2022 Ellies Creator Awards from Oolite Arts and the WaveMaker Grant from Locust Projects, and she was a finalist for the CINTAS Foundation Fellowship awarded to artists of Cuban heritage.
