Cornelius Tulloch

Cornelius Tulloch (b. Miami) is a Miami-based interdisciplinary artist and architect. His work transcends the boundaries of photography, fine art and architecture, exploring the importance of cultural identity within built environments and how space shapes culture, which in turn cultivates landscapes.

Tulloch’s work has been presented at institutions such as CUE Art Foundation, New York; Locust Projects, Miami; Faena Art Project Room, Miami Beach; MAXXI, Rome; and the Studio Museum in Harlem, where his work is part of the permanent collection. Among his numerous prizes and residencies are the 2022 Emerging Visionary Grant from the Brooklyn Museum’s #BlackVisionaries program and selection as the 2024 Laureate of the Bakehouse x Cité internationale des arts residency in Paris.

Much of Tulloch’s approach has been grounded in his upbringing and communities in Miami, as well as inspired by his Jamaican and African American heritage. He expresses the ways in which bodies exist between cultures and borders and seeks to redefine and reshape the boundaries of art and space. As Global Artistic Director of AIRIE.Foundation (Artist in Residence in the Everglades), he has led projects for Personal Structures in Venice, Italy, and the Smithsonian Design Triennial at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, to name a few.
