Morel Doucet (b. Haiti) is a Miami-based multidisciplinary artist and arts educator. Using a variety of mediums including ceramics, illustrations and prints, he examines the realities of climate gentrification, migration and displacement within African diaspora communities. His work catalogs a powerful record of the Black experience through environmental decay at the intersection of economic inequity, the commodification of industry, personal labor and race.

Doucet graduated from New World School of the Arts with the Distinguished Dean’s Award for Ceramics. From there, he continued his education at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2013) in Ceramics, with a minor in Creative Writing and a concentration in Illustration. He has received several prestigious awards, including the 2024 Harpo Foundation Visual Artist Award, the 2024 Miami Individual Artists (MIA) Grant, the 2021 Ellies Creator Award from Oolite Arts and the 2020 Green Space Initiative Grant. Doucet has also been nominated for notable awards, such as the 2019 Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Biennial Award. Doucet has also been featured and reviewed in numerous publications, including Vogue México, Exploring Studio Materials: Teaching Creative Art Making to Children (Oxford University Press), Hyperallergic and Hypebeast.
