Beverly Acha (b. 1987, Miami) is a visual artist and first generation Latina, currently living and working in Brooklyn, N.Y. She works in a variety of mediums including painting, drawing and printmaking. Rooted in observation, her abstraction captures the intangible sensorial and psychological experience of space through color, shape and repetition.

Often working in series, Acha’s paintings build a distinct visual language and logic in response to the environment in which they are made. Referencing architecture, sound, diagrams and landscape, her core concern is the perceptual slippage within these systems, the space between knowing and seeing, experience and memory, and the real and the imagined.

Acha has participated in prestigious residencies and fellowships, including the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, MacDowell, Fountainhead Residency, Lighthouse Works Fellowship, Zeta Orionis Fellowship at Vermont Studio Center, Wassaic Project Residency and Education Fellowship, and Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program. She has also received awards and grants, including the Aon-CUE Artist Empowerment Award, Robert Schoelkopf Memorial Travel Grant to Brazil and the Frederick M. Peyser Prize in Painting. Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, Maake Magazine, and the Virginia Quarterly Review, and she is the inaugural artist-in-residence at Lighthouse Works.. Acha holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College.
