David Correa

David Correa (b. 1999, Miami) is a contemporary artist based in Miami. He received his Bachelor of Fine ArtsB from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and works across disciplines to construct narrative-driven installations and performances. His practice explores existentialism and post-humanism, examining the human body as a system subject to modification and control.

Blending performance, film, poetry, object and imagery, Correa’s practice presents surreal narratives exploring and satirizing man’s existential relationship to the tool and the self. Contextualized through collective aspects of Latin American situationism, he informs these narratives by referencing political theory, mythology, history and philosophy, creating networks of ideologies which anchor the Latin laborer as an absurd figure.

Correa is represented by QUEUE Gallery and has presented work with Voloshyn, Primary, the Miami Design District, and Untitled Art. He is an alumnus of the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, and is currently in residence at Tunnel Projects
